Castle Rock, located just down the road from the Evergreen Motel is one of many sea stacks located in the Straits area; it rises 200' above the surrounding area and gives a panoramic view of St. Ignace and the Straits. The Native Americans used the sea stacks as lookouts to view approaching enemies; the stacks were also used for ceremonies and considered sacred.
Castle Rock is open mid-May thru mid-October and for a small fee tourists are able to climb to the top of the sea stack for a truly breath-taking view.
